Description

Gibson was the epitome of competitiveness and was known as one of the toughest pitchers in history. He won 20+ games five times, won two Cy Young awards and a league MVP, was an all-star and a Gold Glove winner, and finished with a lifetime 251-174 won-loss record. He shone in post-season play, winning two World Series, in which he was named MVP both times. Against Boston in the 1967 World Series, he put together one of the greatest post-season performances in baseball history. He was 3-0, throwing three complete games, giving up only 14 hits and three earned runs over the 27 innings, while striking out 26 and walking only five batters.
