Description
This is a Stereoview Card, issued around 1932, features none other than the great Babe Ruth!
These unique cards have two, virtually identical pictures printed on them. When looked at with a special viewer (a stereoscope), the cards display a 3D image. While not a traditional trading card, they are widely collectible and a form of card, measuring approximately 3″ tall by 7″ wide. Ruth is featured on several different stereoview cards but this one in particular has confused collectors for years. The card was issued by Keystone View Company, one of the largest producers of these types of cards. The second image has been misidentified as Hollywood star, Tom Mix, but in reality, it is actually a photo of Keystone’s most famous photographer George Lewis, jumping down off of the great pyramid at Giza in the early 1930’s. It is a portion of card number 777 from their rare 1200 card “Tour of the World” set. Traditional cards of Ruth during his playing days are among the most expensive in the hobby. This represents a vintage Ruth item that doesn’t nearly break the bank.
Condition is VG, with some minor wear (see scans).
