Description
Clean and centered example of this 1909 Piedmont issue featuring Brooklyn outfielder, Harry Lumley. Lumley for a brief period was a premier Home Run hitter in the National League. As a rookie in 1904 he led the NL in triples (18) and home runs (9). He would finish 5th in HR in 1905 and was runner-up in both 1906 and 1907. An ankle injury would derail his playing career after only seven seasons that included a brief tenure as manager of the Superbas. With an early Piedmont 150 back, this is 1 of 2 graded by SGC in this grade, with 7 graded higher among the 122 1909 Piedmont’s graded.
