Description

Mickey Cochrane ranks among the best catchers ever.  The highly regarded Hall of Faner was the consummate leader, and a two-time AL MVP who hit over .300 nine times during his 13-year career.  He was an on-base machine, registering a .400 or better OBP 1o times and a three-time World Series winner who finished his career with a .320 lifetime batting average.  A bean ball fractured his skull (no helmets back then folks) prematurely ending his career in 1937.

Although he was included some smaller regional sets prior to this issue, it is widely accepted as his rookie card as this was his first card included in a major national issue (1933 Goudey, like the 1951 Parkhurst hockey set, was released after a lengthy period that saw no major, nationally distributed card sets).
