Description
Greatest hitter of all-time. HOFer Williams lost 5 years of his prime to active military service. In his first four MLB seasons he led the league in runs (3x), WAR (2x), HR (2x), RBI (2x), BA (2x including .406), OBP (3x), and more. Remarkably he won the Triple Crown in 1942 at age 23 with .356, 36 HR, 137 RBI. He would miss the following three seasons flying actual combat missions. When he returned at age 27, he picked up where he left off leading MLB with a 10.6 WAR and winning the MVP. The following season he would win his second Triple Crown. He won a total of six batting titles, while leading the AL in HR’s and RBI a total of four times.
