Description

One of the greatest all-around players ever, this is Speaker’s rookie card.  Hall of Famer Speaker played 22 seasons, led the AL in doubles eight times, and owns the all-time record of 792.  He hit .300 or better 18 times in a 19-year span, hit .340 or better 11 times, winning the AL batting title (not easy to do when competing against Ty Cobb) in 1916 when he hit .386.  He also led the league in on-base percentage four times, and during a 17-year run he’d finish the season with a .400 or better OB% 16 times. He finished with a lifetime .345 batting average on 3,514 hits, 222 triples, 1,531 RBI and 436 stolen bases. And he was also the best centerfielder in the game.   One of the key cards in this monster set, this one has the scarcer Polar Bear back, 1 of 61 in the SGC database which represents only 5.8% of all SGC Speakers.
