Description

Phillippe was a superb pitcher over 13 seasons, mainly with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He won 20 games or more 6 times in his first 7 seasons, including a 25-9 season in 1903. In 1909 he won a World Series as the Honus Wagner-led Pirates beat Ty Cobb and the Detroit Tigers, and in 1910 he went 14-2 to lead the majors with an .875 winning percentage.
