Description
This authentic, original T205 card, issued in 1911, was pulled from a Topps 206 pack. The Topps 205/206 issues feature modern players on cards modelled after the famed tobacco card sets. The chase inserts included several original cards, framed in these sealed holders.
Jimmy Austin, a solid player who lasted 18 seasons (more or less) in the big leagues, is pictured here as a member of the New York Highlanders who at the time were also informally referred to as the “Yankees”. It would be two more years before the team would officially change its name, and this set appears to the first to use the Yankees name.
