Nice high-quality example of this HOFer’s 1954 Topps card.  One of the premier sluggers of the era, Doby broke in after Jackie Robinson, becoming the first black player in the American League. Although not celebrated as much as Jackie, Doby’s path and experience were not dissimilar to Robinson’s, and Doby performed well in the face of such extraordinary adversity.
