Description
Gibson was such the epitome of competitiveness, and was known as one of the toughest pitchers in history. He won 20+ games five times, won two Cy Young awards and a league MVP, was an all-star and a Gold Glove winner, and finished with a lifetime 251-174 won-loss record. He shone in post-season play, winning two World Series, in which he was named MVP both times. In 1967 against Boston he put together one of the greatest World Series performances in baseball history. He was 3-0, throwing three complete games, giving up only 14 hits and three earned runs over the 27 innings, while striking out 26 and walking only five batters.
Graded a very nice 7 NM by SGC.
