Description

Awesome card featuring a late September run of shows at the Retinal with the Collectors, a popular and ambitious local Vancouver band with songs like “Will-O-the-Wind” and “Lydia Purple” as well as their 20-min Pink Floyd-ish “What Love (Suite)”.  When lead singer Howard Vickers left the band in 1969 the remaining members renamed the band “Chilliwack” with guitarist Bill Henderson taking over lead vocals.  Chilliwack went on to become one of the most successful Canadian bands of the next two decades with familiar hits like “Lonesome Mary”, “My Girl” and “Fly at Night”.  Also on the bill was an Edmonton-based band headed by Graeme Moorehouse known as Graeme Waifer (or Graeme and the Waifers). Art by Steve Seymour, #31 in the Retinal Circus series.
