Description

The premier piece in the Retinal Circus postcard series is this Steve Seymour oversized (5″ x 14″) effort promoting a series of shows by the Velvet Underground, June 1968.  Although not a commercial success, the Velvets nevertheless were one of the most influential bands of the era.  This was several months after the release of the band’s second album, and several months prior to John Cale’s departure.  The opening acts for the run of shows included Black Snake Blues Band, My Indole Ring, Papa Bear’s Medicine Show, and the Don Thompson Trio.  Recently one of these sold at auction for $360 USD.
