Description
This is an original and scarce postcard from the May 30 -June 1, 1968, concerts at the Retinal Circus in Vancouver, BC, Canada, featuring the legendary Bo Diddley, along with local Canadian bands My Indole Ring, Black Snake and the United Empire Loyalists. Art on this scarce piece is by Steve Seymour.
Vancouver had a vibrant psychedelic scene with venues like the Retinal Circus and the Afterthought, which featured international bands on west coast tours and local acts throughout the mid-to-late 60s. Artists like Bob Masse, Eric Fisher and Steve Seymour created some classic psych-rock art, and this scarce postcard is a gorgeous, original, 51-year-old example.
Keep in mind the scene and club venues were small in Vancouver, so posters, handbills and postcards were printed in much, much, smaller quantities than their counterparts in places like San Francisco and Los Angeles.
This original pre-concert first printing is in near mint condition with sharp corners, and no creases, dings, pinholes or other flaws. This postcard measures 5″ x 7″ with clean bright colors.
