Description
This is an original oversized postcard showcasing the amazing artwork of rock art pioneers, Rick Griffin and Alton Kelley, and was issued for a series of concerts August 13 to 25, 1968, at the Fillmore West, in San Francisco, California.
The lineup of acts is stellar. August 13-15 featured The Who, James Cotton, and Magic Sam. August 16-18 featured Creedence Clearwater Revival, It’s a Beautiful Day, and Albert Collins. On August 20-22, the headliner was the Grateful Dead, with Kaleidoscope and Albert Collins supporting. Finally, the August 23-25 shows featured Quicksilver Messenger Service, Spooky Tooth, and Cold Blood. Pretty solid two weeks of music!
This card is in Near Mint + condition with bright colors and sharp corners. I would call it mint, but the black corners are difficult to find without some miniscule touch, and this one is really very good. The card measures 7″ x 9″. This is a first (and only) printing of the postcard, which is catalogued in the Bill Graham series as BG133. The back features a calendar of upcoming concerts, including Steppenwolf, Grateful Dead, and Santana, among others.
