Description
Zimmerman was a solid hitter, winning a Triple Crown in 1912 with a .372 BA, 14 HR and 107 RBI as a member of the Chicago Cubs. He would leave the game with a lifetime .295 average, solid during the Deadball days, and would lead the NL in RBI a total of 3x over his 13-yr big league career. His career ended in the wake of the Black Sox scandal after the 1919 season when he was accused of throwing games and attempting to bribe players to throw games. Although not formally banned, baseball was desperate to clean things up and he and others like the great Hal Chase were effectively blackballed from organized ball.
With the Sweet Caporal 350 back, graded 1.5 FR by SGC.
