1956 Topps #83 Karl Spooner (PSA 8)

2nd Year Card!

Spooner broke into big league ball like few ever have. The left-handed pitcher came along at the same time as the Sandy Koufax but had a much different entrance. Where it took Sandy years to find success, Spooner broke from the gate in spectacular fashion. In his first ML start, he threw a complete game shutout, giving up only three singles, while striking out a record breaking 15 batters. In his very next start, four days later, he threw yet another complete game shutout, giving up four hits and striking out 12. Unfortunately, the rest of his career didn’t go this well and injuries sustained in 1955 ended his big-league time.

This great card, Spooner’s 2nd year offering, is graded a pack fresh NM-MT 8 by PSA!
