Description
One of the most sought after 1960s concert poster is this incredible design by Wes Wilson. The shows were held in late August of 1966 and featured influential Texas psych-rock band the 13th Floor Elevators, with Great Society and Sopwith Camel. Wilson’s fluid lettering surrounds a photo of a young Grace Slick, then singer of the Great Society who would leave the band a month later to join the Jefferson Airplane. The colors, the design, the historical significance, have all made this poster – known as BG-25 in the Bill Graham Fillmore Series – one of the most popular of the era. No postcards were issued concurrently with the pre-concert printing but were instead part of the subsequent second printing (necessitated by the popularity of the poster) which was done in 1967.
